EcoMech Geothermal, First Georgia Dealer To Install And Test WaterFurnace Series 7

7-Series-Most-Efficient-2012-761x800WaterFurnace International, Inc. earlier announced the release of the new WaterFurnace 7-Series product line, featuring the Danfoss Variable Speed Compressor and Fan Motor with its vastly superior method of rejecting heat through either a closed or open loop geothermal system.

Today, July 19, 2012-EcoMech Geothermal & Mechanical ofAtlanta,Georgia, is proud to announce that they are the first in the state of Georgia to officially install, startup and test out the most efficient air conditioning system in the world. “We literally weren’t even sure if it was running or not. It’s just that quiet.” -states Tim Uzar, CEO of EcoMech LLC in Georgia.

The Closed loop systems circulate a water-based solution through a loop system of small-diameter, high density polyethylene underground pipes. Closed loop systems can be installed vertically or in a pond. Open loop systems use an existing water well or surface water. EcoMech Geothermal and Mechanical uses the WaterFurnace Geo Link software to design the loops based on actual site conditions to ensure the system delivers its full AHRI certified EER.

30% Residential Federal Tax Credit- A federal tax credit is available for home and commercial building owners who install geothermal heating and cooling systems through the Energy Improvement and Extension Act of 2008 (H.R. 1424). This offers a one time tax credit of 30% of the total investment for homeowners who install residential ground loop or ground water geothermal heat pumps. A credit of 10% of the total investment is also available (no maximum) for a commercial system installation. A 15-year lease/purchase option is provided for commercial installations. Once a home or building owner factors in the federal tax credit, the net cost difference of a WaterFurnace Geothermal System as compared to an air source is typically recouped in a relatively short time period through operational cost savings. The WaterFurnace has a 10-year limited warranty and a typical operational life of 25 years.

If your current HVAC system is 10 years or older and you are experiencing high power bills, check out your potential operation cost savings with a WaterFurnace Geothermal HVAC System on the active Geothermal Savings Calculator. Which Is Best? Direct Exchange vs. Water Source Geothermal Systems

When you are considering installing a geothermal system, there are lots of systems to consider. One of the first decisions you may have to make is the decision between direct exchange systems and water source systems. Choosing which type to use largely depends on the property conditions and layout as well as the level of performance desired. Here is a quick overview of the two systems – direct exchange systems and water source systems – currently available on the market:

  • Direct exchange systems exchange heat directly from the refrigerant to the earth by cycling the refrigerant loop through the soil in a series of copper tubes placed underground.
  • Water source systems exchange heat from the refrigerant to water and then circulate the water through the earth.

How do you choose? The best place to get information on which type of geothermal system is the most efficient is by referring to a reputable third party rating organizations, such as the AHRI (www.ahrinet.org). The AHRI rates these geothermal systems based on their efficiency and effectiveness at heating and cooling residential properties. Simply put, according to the AHRI direct exchange heat pump systems are not as efficient as water source heat pump systems when both are operating under the same working conditions. If you are looking for maximum efficiency, then consider a water source heat pump system.

While there are certainly situations that are appropriate for both direct exchange and water source systems, choose your geothermal carefully. If you are looking for expert help, contact us! At EcoMech, we offer both types of systems and will custom design a heating and cooling solution depending on the site specifications.
